Dolly Parton – Laurie Lynn
Laurie Lynn Danks was born and raised in a small community on the west coast of Newfoundland, Canada. She came from a family that enjoyed listening to music and singing from dusk till dawn.
Her parents often said her first stage was her crib, where she would sing nursery rhymes and create story songs with her mom. Her dad crafted a small wooden microphone for her, so she could pretend to be on stage. Lauries earliest memories are performing songs, with “Coat of Many Colors” being her favorite and would sing to family, friends and anyone that would listen.
A short time after her first experience on stage her parents brought her to a Charlie Pride show, he spotted her singing along to his songs in the front row and brought her up on the stage with him. After the show Charlie Pride spoke with her parents about Laurie’s love for music and not long after her parents introduced her to theater performance.
When Laurie was about thirteen her dad brought her to see a “Patsy Cline tribute show.” It brought tears to her eyes as she felt deep in her heart that one day she would do the same only she would perform as Dolly Parton. Years went by and Laurie continued singing and performing in shows until age 23, at which time she moved to Ontario, Canada and raised a family. While raising her family Laurie would often sing when an opportunity presented itself, most times for charity.
Throughout the years many folk in the audience remarked on the similarity of Lauries vocals and appearance to that of Dolly Parton, saying she had the sweet angelic vibrato voice.
In 2018, Laurie finally decided it was her time to follow her dream and calling in life and to take her love for singing and Dolly Parton to a whole new level, and began performing across Canada and the USA, wowing audiences with her close resemblance, quick wit and vibrato voice to Dolly Parton.
Lauries “ Smoky Mountain Songbird” tribute show is a high energy, fun loving performance from the moment she sets foot on the stage till the curtain closes. This show is one of a kind and should not be missed.
